Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid frequently described in scientific literature in connection with brain function and vision. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) confirms that a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is an essential plant-based omega-3 fatty acid that must be obtained through diet. A daily intake of 2 g of ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels. Plant-based combinations of flaxseed oil and algal oil are used in modern nutritional concepts to integrate different omega-3 fatty acids into daily life in a structured manner – especially in the context of vegetarian and vegan diets.
